TOUR DESCRIPTION

We have made this expedition since 2009 and with increasingly success. The chance seeing Snow Leopard is currently 75%; however never guaranteed. This area is by no means for the comfortable relaxed type of travelers. This is tough expedition to a rough world. There are no dangerous aspects or unsafe things awaiting the traveler. We just must emphasize that this tour truly is a wildlife expedition where the environments such as cold climate and harsh roads really demands patience and understanding of the concept by you - the traveler! We simply cannot predict the weather, circumstances, and we cannot tell exactly when we arrive or how long we will be on the road. However, what we CAN predict, and promise is a visit to a truly magnificent area, and an adventure in the northern Himalayas very few people have experienced. In addition, can we promise the most experienced staff, enough and tasty food, and… fantastic nature and wildlife! 

This expedition will try to reveal some of the unique mammals seen in Northern Himalaya. Unique mammals are on our target list: Argali, Siberian Ibex, Wolf and of course – great birds. We also hope of watching one of the most mythic animals on globe – the Snow Leopard, but we don’t deal with pure Snow Leopard Expeditions as its simply too difficult to make agreements with the Snow Leopard, however Miksture possess one of the world’s highest success rates when it comes to finding a wild Snow Leopard. All details are fixed and ready. We have negotiated with the people that are able to give Miksture access to one of the unique areas in Kyrgyzstan. On this expedition, we travel deep into the heart of the Snow Leopards kingdom, and with the expertise of our team, our chances for an encounter are raised from virtually impossible to reasonable. The adventure is still alive!

Active travel! On this trip, day-tours hiking is included, and it is a prerequisite that you are in generally good physical shape and can move on your own. The trip is not suitable for people who have difficulty walking due uneven terrain. 

 

Climate: Distinctive mountain climate, which can be...everything, but usually cold but manageable, especially when You follow our instructions & prior-departure information.

Visa. Visas are required for some nationalities upon entry into Kyrgyzstan, but for most nationalities NOT. Information will be given prior departure by Sovietistan Travel. Please also note that your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the duration of the stay, and there must be at least 2 blank pages in the passport.

 

Transport. The transport is mainly provided by a uncomfortable, heavy truck in the mountains without A/C. Outside the mountains we use comfortable vans and Mercedes Sprinter (up to 12 pax).

Prior departure Miksture Expeditions & Sovietistan Travel will send you plenty of information: What to bring, information of the expedition, food, culture, people, health advises etc 

 

Accomodation. In Bishkek comfortable on 3***-level. In Tamga, guesthouse - shared toilet & bath per 2 room. On the expedition, uncomfortable and sometimes cold accommodation; but in your sleeping bag, You will be fine! Maybe - depending on how the expedition develops, we might use tents for few nights, in order to increase the wildlife experience - usually we accommodate indoor during the expedition.

General conditions. A safe travel experience. We want you to feel safe as an Miksture Expeditions & Sovietistan Travel traveler, from the moment you book your trip until you return home with a lot of good experiences - even in a world with coronavirus. That is why we have made a number of measures to minimize the risk of infection, while at the same time giving you all the travel experiences you dream of. All tour guides are certified in the WHO guidelines for infection control. Extra high demands on our partners in relation to cleaning. We inform all our travel participants about travel insurance and minimization of infection.

The requirements of the journey for physical ability. As a general rule, all travel participants must be self-sufficient. At the same time, we must emphasize that the expedition is generally not suitable for people with walking difficulties. On many of our day trips, will exceed 16 kilometers of walking. Depending on where and how the conditions are - and where the wildlife occurs. usually we don't carry heavy backpack - just personal gear for day hikes.

Travel insurance – mandatory. All participants must take out travel insurance that at least covers the costs of medical treatment and repatriation. As most public health insurance can no longer be used as travel insurance, it is a prerequisite for participation in our travels that you have taken out a travel insurance.

Reservations / changes

We reserve the right to make changes to the program. Miksture Expeditions & Sovietistan Travel and our local partners always strive to run the trip carefully according to the program, but due to the sights' opening hours or practical circumstances, it may be necessary to complete the route in a different order than stated. In addition, program items may be deleted due to force majeure situations such as weather conditions, road conditions or delayed flights.

Finally, we must point out that our travels is continuously revised and improved based on the feedback we receive after each trip. Revision of the trip might therefore result in changes in the program from the time it was purchased until the departure takes place. Before departure, all participants will receive the latest updated program, which intends to serve the customers' best and ensure the most smooth running of the trip.

​

The trip is sold as a whole "package", and it will not be possible to refund the parts of the package that may. not used.

Payments & Terms 

700 USD will confirm your place on the tour. The final balance is due 90 days prior to departure. All prices are quoted in U.S. dollars and must be paid in U.S. dollars or otherwise agreed with Sovietistan Travel. Per person pricing is based on double occupancy. The solo rate is paid by participants who specifically request single accommodations and is subject to availability. If you are traveling alone and wish to share accommodations, we will try to match you with a roommate of the same gender. However, if a roommate is not available, the published solo rate will be charged. Please note that solo accommodations are limited and cannot always be guaranteed throughout.
